Base Camp for Life: A Spiritual Journey...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

I guess I'd better explain myself a little here for posting this brilliant song and lyrics by The Who. With the inauguration of our new master puppet today, Chief Obama, I think the people expecting drastic change henceforth will be sadly disappointed.

I particularly liked this verse of the song as it applies to Obama's "change we can believe in" mantra,

"The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war"

Obama will increase troops in Afghanistan and probably clash sabers with Iran. His nut-job Israeli chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel and his Jewish extremist financiers will make sure of it.

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for the song :) Are you still in Eastern MT or will you be back for this week's meeting?

Regarding Obama, I'd rather not wade too deeply into politics, but I am still not convinced of his ability to bring positive change to the country. "Change" is a wonderful mantra, but I think you'll agree that what we really want is change *for the better.* Change for its own sake will not ultimately produce a better America, which is kind of the message that I'm getting from your song. That being said, while I disagree significantly with President Obama concerning many key issues, I do sincerely hope that God can use him to bring constructive change to the country. I'd rather root for our president than against him, but I do remain skeptical of many of Obama's claims. At any rate, I think we can all agree that we are in for an interesting four years.

This is bar none the best "The Who" song ever!!!!
I hope Obama isn't a continuation of Bush...maybe Bruce can help us out. Maybe we can cast lots in predicting the future.
I agree Ryan that Obama won't be decreasing troops in Afghanistan and around the world.
A few of my liberal and conservative friends have admitted to me that they wish Ron Paul was president.

I'm sorry guys, it just seems like we get fooled over and over again, only this time they made it look extra special. I shouldn't be so pessimistic when it comes to our governing officials but I am. At least Obama is literate and uses complete sentences! Have you seen this video?

Hilarious. Gonna miss that goofball.

I love this The Who song and I just had to go find the lyrics because they're so true. Bruce, feel free to beat me up on this one if you'd like... I admit I have a very shallow view of most politicians.

Question: in the lyrics of the song, are they fooled three repeated times after praying to not get fooled again or are they fooled once? If the former is true, is the artist placing his trust in the same peoples who fooled him the first time? Does the artist "smile and grin at the change all around" in the contentment that he has found in the new change? Or does he smile because he already knows he's been fooled again? Point being, I think there is a lesson to be learned here: don't fool yourself into believing any change is going to happen when all the old farts in congress that have been there forever are still there. This song is a lesson for us all to remember where TRUE change comes from.

I guess I'm just still bitter about being fooled by Bush the last two elections.

Olberman is one of the most hateful one-sided people in media.
Bush's mistakes as president are many; but the dream of the left that Obama is going to fix everything makes me sick.

I just wanted to let you all know I miss you guys very much. I hope that I will be there (weather permitting) next week.

As far as the post... I am taking a "wait and see" attitude.
